O-Rings Sorting: A key strength of ours for quality

The role of sorting in manufacturing processes
In the production cycle of O-Rings and technical items, sorting plays a key role in the control and validation of the final product. The reliability of an O-Rings depends not only on the quality of the compound, but also on a meticulous final inspection that eliminates any non-conformities.
For this reason, at our OringOne and EZTRA® plants, we have dedicated departments for sorting, each equipped with specialized expertise and technologies. This organization allows us to provide our customers with products that are not only compliant with the international ISO 3601 standard, but often meet even stricter and customized selection parameters.

High-Precision Sorting: EZTRAfactory
The EZTRA®factory plant specializes in the manual sorting of FFKM O-Rings of extremely small sizes, starting from just 1.00 mm in diameter. These components are intended for highly critical sectors such as chemical, pharmaceutical, and semiconductor industries, where even the slightest imperfection can compromise the system’s functionality.
Inspection is carried out piece by piece, without any automation, thanks to the work of skilled operators who use high-resolution magnifying lenses. This manual visual inspection allows the detection of micro-defects that are impossible to identify with standard tools, such as surface porosity, burrs, micro-cuts, deformations, or foreign particles.

Sorting of large and medium-sized O-Rings
Within the OringOne plant, sorting is dedicated to standard and large sized O-Rings, regardless of the compound used. In this department, the process can be either manual or automated, depending on the specific requirements of the customer.
Manual sorting, carried out by a team of qualified operators, allows for direct inspection of each piece and is particularly requested for supplies intended for sectors requiring traceability and absolute quality assurance. Automated sorting, on the other hand, relies on state of the art machinery that can analyze large volumes of pieces in a short time. The O-Rings are rotated on specialized rollers and scanned by high-resolution cameras, capable of detecting dimensional and surface non-conformities with extremely high precision, regardless of the diameter.
The OringOne department handles an average of 5,000 to 10,000 pieces sorted per day, ensuring significant production volumes with virtually zero defect rates.

Defects detected during Sorting
Thanks to the combination of human expertise and automated systems, we are able to identify and reject O-Rings with dimensional deviations beyond tolerance, damaged or uneven surfaces, contaminants, cuts, and micro-cracks.
These inspections allow us to ensure products with a level of quality that exceeds the standards required by the market.

ISO 3601 Compliance
All our O-Rings comply with the international ISO 3601 standard, which defines the technical requirements to ensure the quality and reliability of sealing elements. In particular, the standard covers:
- Dimensional tolerances: control of the inner diameter and cross section, according to different precision classes.
- Surface defects: assessment of porosity, micro-cuts, scratches, or deformations.
- Material standards: required characteristics for different compounds, including chemical, mechanical, and thermal resistance.
- Functional performance: compliance with pressure sealing requirements, durability, and behavior under severe operating conditions.
- Application classes: categorization of O-Rings based on their sectors of use (industrial, aerospace, automotive, pharmaceutical, etc.).

Sorting as a guarantee of quality
Sorting is a fundamental phase in the production cycle of O-Rings and sealing solutions. It is not merely an inspection, but a true quality assurance process, designed to ensure that every single component meets the highest market standards.
Thanks to this meticulous step, we are able to provide our customers with reliable, safe, and long-lasting products, minimizing the risk of defects and ensuring maximum efficiency in every application. Our experience and the technologies we employ allow us to select only what is truly compliant, turning quality into a tangible value for those who choose our products.
Choosing our O-Rings means opting for consistent performance, guaranteed reliability, and the peace of mind of having solutions designed to last over time.
